High Hump

I just ran across this while looking for something else. I did not realize that steel high humps were being reproduced. They must be fairly new. I see that complete firewalls are now available also.

Re: High Hump

I know there is a vendor working on doing a high hump and the firewall part. Not sure where they are in the process.

Re: High Hump

The SM420, SM435, SM465 and most newer OEM and aftermarket 5 and 6 speed transmissions need the room.

Re: High Hump

Nope one of big the metal guys. I supplied them with a high hump and the fire wall piece. They planned to scan the pieces and see if they could start making them. They have the resources to do it.

Is it someone that will make them domestically?

Re: High Hump

I think they will be out of one of the Taiwanese plants. They are a big supplier of body parts and the resources to get stuff done.

Re: High Hump

The high hump cover I posted a link to is likely made by that supplier.

Re: High Hump

I just received my trans cover today from classic parts and it is not the high hump. From the picture in classics site its hard to tell. I'll give them a call on Monday and see if the high cover is available.

Would you be able to post a pic of the hump you got?

Re: High Hump

Here are a couple of pics of the trans cover. It seems well made just not tall enough.

Re: High Hump

OK, I'm not a metal fabricator. But I was looking at what the PO had done to get the trans to clear (first Picture). There are some really good fabricators on this site and I was wondering if anyone has modified their low hump like this? It might be a bit of work but I thought it might work pretty well.

Re: High Hump

I see that they also have one with no holes, which is nice. However the one review on this cover is not good.

Re: High Hump

I just saw that review. Looks like only part of the 2 piece high hump...wonder why they don't make the upper portion?

Re: High Hump

The forward section would be difficult and quite expensive to reproduce. I doubt that people would pay the kind of money a quality steel reproduction would cost when the Slosh Tubz fiberglass version is available.
