I first bought my 1970 1/2 ton 2wd suburban about 8 years ago. We finally decided to restore...sort of.

Re: project pacific wonder

here is some of the stripping process before body and paint work
the worst of the rust was a little on the passenger side floor board and some rust inside the hatch.

Re: project pacific wonder

i pulled the frame out and replaced it with a 3/4 ton 4x4 frame from this white 1972 burb

its amazing what some wood, 2 bottle jacks and a floor jack can accomplish

i stuck with stock height suspension and added a front sway bar from an 87 blazer as well as the hydroboost PS system, and picked up a discounted rear sway bar from schwabs

Re: project pacific wonder

i needed 373 gears and found a front 10 bolt from an 87 burb and rear 14 bolt from a 93 burb
i had to moved the rear spring perch slightly but the front lined up perfect

picked up some all steel wheels from wheel vintiques and schwabs M54 radial HT

Re: project pacific wonder

That's kinda funny. I was going for his color but he put the wrong paint description in his blog he said it was original tangier but his is actually hugged (red orange) but I love both colors
