2.5 easy questions!

Pulling the firewall heater/ mouse house.

1- Is there a 'better' aftermarket firewall heater delete panel? It wont be any prob for me to fab one but if there was an off the shelf piece it would save some time.
NOTE: I am NOT trying to retain an OEM appearance; custom is better.

1.5- Has anyone boxed in the firewall gutter (*the one that runs just below the hood with the wires running through it)? Any probs doing this? Anyone have pics if anyone has done it?

2- I am going to do an SB LS swap pretty soon. Is the a better year/size/options or other things I should look in an LS engine for OR things to avoid when looking at potential engines? I will be using a whistle snail with ~7-10psi.

THanks for any advice!

Re: 2.5 easy questions!

1. The best one is one you make the way you like. (You can choose where you will place your AC lines.)

1.5 This is a fairly common mod with customs. Here is a pic of my channel cut down, not boxed.

Just search shaved, or smooth firewall.

How's your build going? I haven't seen any updates in a while....

I took a month off; lots of other projects including ones the wifey and work want me to do.

I searched but didnt see much on the process. I cut off the lip (quick and easy with help from my friend Mr. Plasma; didnt even pull the hood!). Im planing on capping the top with a 3/16 strip to cover the panel laps and welding it in unless someone tells me to do it some other way.

Now on the hunt for a GEN III!

Ahh , Geeezzz, Now you went and did it .... Say goodbye to your wife , add a micro wave and fridge to the garage a futon is optional , Notify your credit card company about the Huge # of forthcoming charges and to only send copies of receipts to your NEW secret email address .

My chrome shop just happened to call today on my girls day off with my balance ... Let's just say I'm getting the "stare" as I type this . LOL !

The process ... Only disassemble as much as you can afford to rebuild . Then double the time you think it will take .

Re: 2.5 easy questions!

There are about as many options as there are opinions.

I’m pretty sure that there is a member on the sales board that sells reproduction heater delete panels. They are copies of the original, extremely rare factory pieces.

It’s the easiest way to accomplish the task.

Re: 2.5 easy questions!

For the ls swap question, gen 3 is the way to go. They are plentiful, affordable and electronics are more simple. Obviously there’s no replacement for displacement.

Re: 2.5 easy questions!

Slosh tubs makes a set of cowl panels to smooth and delete the heater box area. Then with the LS, like said GenIII 5.3 or 6.0 and with a turbo, unless you're going for all out power which with 7-10psi I don't think you are, a 5.3 will do you just fine. Then your choice of using the donor trucks wiring and computer or picking up one of the trick holly terminator systems that has everything included and from what I've seen a fairly straight forward tuning suite with good support as well.
