Thumbs up Speed Hut GPS

Well I ordered my speed o and Tach for the truck. I ordered the 4" speedo GPS and the 3 3/8 tach to go in the middle. I'll use one of my own fuel gauges and buy all new oil, volts and water. Going to buy the little 2" gauges at O-Rileys when I need them.

Anybody out there have a new Ampmeter?

I'm going to keep the dash I have now since it has all the factory goodies in it.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Well it will be a little while since I have to get all the parts together. I have a couple of old dashes I may do a mockup on before buying a new one.

Glad to see you are getting your install off the ground Andy. I am going to post a link to my install for the folks that read this thread, to give them a little more insight on the GPS speedo.

Thanks Doc, I'm going to need all the help I can get on this one maybe. I hope to getter done by the Goof meet (April) but I don't know! I was going with all Speed Hut gauges but after seeing all the ones O-Riley has I figured they would be just as easy to use and don't have to worry about ordering them. All of them should be a basic bolt in and wire up. The oil should be nothing but hooking it back up to the line. Volt meter is just moving it into the dash instead of under it. Leave the ampmeter and water alone.I may need a ampmeter and water gauge so I don't have to rob them out of the orignal dash.

I have some extra gauges. If you can't find any down your way let me know.

Question Re: Speed Hut GPS

Got to have a circuit board for a non tach dash along with a lens for the same. I'll have to cutout the tach and speedo area so the speedhut stuff will work. Then decide on the rest after I get that done. Anybody have something they want to get rid of?

Cool Re: Speed Hut GPS

I know this thread is a little behind. Just haven't had time for the install. Just ordered the new dash, lens and printed circuit. I hope to work on it next week when my parts get here.

Going with all mechanical gauges except for the stock gas guage. Everything else will be mechanical!

Well I guess I'm putting in another order to SpeedHut for the 2 1/16" water, oil, volts and air/fuel mixture guages. I was going with just generic gauges but have changed my mind.

Yea,
I been playing with it some the past few evenings after work. I just don't think the mixing of the gauges would look to good. I'm also going to order the wiring harness for 8 gauges to make all the connection cleaner and simpler.
I'm going to call tomorrow and order them along with asking if I can get a 3" are 4"gas gauge to match.

I got the new dash and printed circuit and lens the other day. So it's just a matter of getting the gauges all now. I have a couple of ?'s though about the fuel / air gauge that I hope they can answer to.

I ordered the 2 1/16" volt, oil, fuel/air, gas and water guages today got the wiring harness to connect all the lights of them together to make it one simple hookup and the Gas is 3 3/8" to go back in the regular spot!
I hope to work on it next week after returning home from the beach.

Mine is white numbers that glow red at night. Muscle! Red pointer!

Good luck with the install. Keep us posted through out the build. Take lots of pics so they can make this a FAQ. Plus those gauges look very cool. I can't wait to see them finished up.

Well I hope I can pull this off. I'm a little worried about the wiring but I hope it will be simple enough after I get everything layed out and start messing with it.
I'm going to do a full pictorial as I go along so I will have referances for if I ever need to work on it are put it back to orignal

Cool Re: Speed Hut GPS

Once I get the guages I can get the wiring done. I shouldn't have any major problems with it I hope. It all seems like it just a matter of finding the right wires out of the factory plug and using them. I have to figure out a high beam light, brake and alternator lights to I guess. When I crank it up. Then again I may just do without them!

Thumbs up Re: Speed Hut GPS

Long story short version!

Just got back home after 2 long days in Garden City. Irene is suppose to bypass our place so it was a long round trip pulling the car trailer for nothing!!!!

OK now for the good news the SpeedHut guages showed up while I was gone so I hope to start on the new dash over the weekend and first of next week since I'm off until Wednesday of next week. I hope to get the new dash wired and maybe installed. Pictures will be coming soon.

Alrighty, I have a dumb question - but because I love the idea of these things, I have to ask - will you not know your speed in a parking garage or tunnel when you don't have sv reception?

Good question,
sorry I don't have a good answer for you on it though! I haven't been through any tunnels are parking garages. I know with my truck in my garage it picks up with the door open. with the front of the truck facing the door. Never have thought about it park the other way because I back into the garage.

Re: Speed Hut GPS

Hmm, interesting. Knowing my luck, I'd get a ticket before I picked up enough satellites pulling out of my garage since I'm a nose-in'er. These things are a great idea though - sure is nice to know your speedo and odo are accurate regardless of rear end/trans mods, etc.

Yes it is and they do much more for you.

They give 1/4 mile speed, 1/8 mile speed elevation reading, top speed, direction as in North, south, east and west. Plus a trip reset!
It's one of the best mods I've done to my truck.
Plus you can design your own faces for the gauges to.
