VDO cluster

Here is the VDO gauge cluster I put together.I went from a 3 hole dummy light to this.I used Cole Hearse green lights for turn indicators and a blue led for high beams. It is wired to a 12 pin male/female quick disconnect{painless}for ease of removal.I used the factory wires but cut the factory plug then color matched the wiring.

Re: VDO cluster

That looks very nicely done. I would really like to work on mine, which was originally a three hole as well, but was later cut into to add the bottom 4 gauges, unfortunately it wasnt done very nicely. So I will have to decide to go brand new, or just fix it the way I want it.

Re: VDO cluster

I have always liked the VDO gauges since the days of owning volkswagens. What is the chrome ring lookin things around all the gauges? Looks great.

My mom always had the best advice. It was just a tad late. After a fall that involved blood, she'd say....."Careful!"

They are a real quality gauge/sender if you like electrical.I have used them in the marine industry for 20+ years in a much harsher enviourment than the dash of a truck.

The chrome is the bezel itself, there is a small chrome{plastic}trim ring around each hole.

Re: VDO cluster

Very nice those guages seem to fit the dash bezel really well.

The 2 1/16"fit perfect, the 4"were alittle small so I had to reduce the bezel holes by a 1/2" with a piece of 1/4" pvc epoxyed to the back then drilled 2 4" holes.

Re: VDO cluster

i'm guessing the vdo gauges are cheaper than the autometers? Where do you find VDO's anyways. I also know them from my old VW's

These came from Summit. They are a real quality gauge/sender.Not sure how they compare to others in price. They dont use a bracket system for mounting, there is a large plastic ring{like a nut}that threads onto the whole gauge housing. Its all I have used for awhile now and not sure how everything else is mounted. The speedometer is pretty slick the way its calabrated, you just hit a reset button go a true measured mile, hit the button again and you are calabrated{checked with gps,its right on}.
