Cool Fun in the rain

I was in the middle of an oil change on my 01 Tahoe out in the driveway this morning, when it started pouring rain (and the weather man said "no appreciable rain" ). Well I figured I could wrap it up real quick since I had already started, well come to find out I had the wrong oil filter (And I had punched a hole in the old one so there was no going back). So I had to run to the parts store for a filter. Well I couldn't resist playing a little in the rain....according to the engine gurus on here my engine is putting down somewhere in the neighborhood of 325-350ish HP and in the rain it spins the 31"x10.5" at will in all four gears. So I decided to take some quick video clips with my cell phone while playing. Excuse the quality (like I said its cell phone vids) and the sloppy carrier bearing doesn't help either, you can see/hear the shaking. I was in traffic with cars in front of and behind me so I couldn't get too crazy, but you can see the speedo jump anytime I hit the gas.

Here is from a stop, I spun in all 4 gears. Its hard to tell when I shift, but you can see the change in MPH on the speedo. You can see when it starts shaking from the carrier bearing I have to let off the gas.

Here is a 45MPH roll in 4th gear, when I hit the gas it got the tires spinning to about 75-80 but I never sped up.

Re: Fun in the rain

Next time it rains I'll have to get some better vids with my video camera out on open road. Maybe I'll have the 12 bolt swapped in by then.

Re: Fun in the rain

when you get your carrier bearing replaced be sure to have your driveshaft ballanced.

Thanks for the tip, I didn't realize you had to re-balance after a carrier swap. I might be ditching the driveline altogether because the reason the carrier went out is the splines on the slipshaft are messed up and it slides really tight, so when the axle moves up/down it put stress on the carrier. I am about to swap out rears from a D60 to a 12 bolt so I will address the driveline then.
