Mine moves freely. Has also did the same on my 85 and the newer bench i got out of an 87. They all have a metal bar that drops down but i am still not really sure how it locks.

Re: bench seat lock pics wanted

Deja' vu...
I was just talking to a guy who is coming out to buy a bench seat. He kept insisting that the seat should have a lock and release. I kept insisting they didn't.
So I went out and looked at the seat I was selling and the one in my '86 and neither one locks.

Re: bench seat lock pics wanted

On the early seats , they were stationary and didnt fold forward ( I think ) , in the middle 70's they went to a folding seat with a locking mechanism , and on the 81-87 seats , I think they tilt forward with no locking capability . It sounds like your seat is correct . I am sure there is someone on here with the exact info needed . Frank

Re: bench seat lock pics wanted

Frank is correct, only the early models had locks on them, after about 80 they were all non locking.
