Re: Throttle rod
I think your only option is to post a WTB on the parts board for a used one, I don't think these are being reproduced.

Re: Throttle rod
Hey drbyrdman,
I was planning to do this a couple of years ago but had no luck finding any of the end links (they called Heim joints?). Do you know where they can be found? (for now I have the bent coat hanger version) |

Re: Throttle rod
that looks nice. might have to make one for my 60 so i can use my gas pedal again. had to take out the pedal when i added the carb spacer so all i got is my rod for right now. there might be some aircraft parts that i can aquire for that........

This is a good idea. I like using the fuel line to cover the threaded rod, nice finishing touch. The biggest problem with my throttle rod is that I had to weld an extention onto it and I don't like the fact that you can see the join .... with the fuel line the problem is resolved and looks good as well. esll.

Re: Throttle rod
I made mine with heim joints and threaded rod also. I got my stuff from Lokar products. It would've been a little pricey, but I got a deal on some discontinued heim joints.

Made mine a couple of months ago, found all the parts at napa, heim joints are also known as spherical rod ends.

Re: Throttle rod
Mine doesn't have enough travel to completely open the Rochester 4V thats on mine. Any tricks to this? Or do I need to swithc to a cable setup?
If so, I'd sell you my throttle rod setup.

Re: Throttle rod
I went to the hardware store and bought a piece of 1/4" fine threaded rod, a piece of brake line to cover it, and the parts store had the Heim joints. I could make some if anyone wants one. It works great!

Re: Throttle rod
Those spherical rod ends make the throttle so much more smooth than the original rod. Here's what I used:
http://www.bakerprecision.com/longacr53.htm It was so cheap and felt so much smoother that I'd do this to any mechanical throttle linkage. 68GMCCustom; you probably need to just shorten up your linkage. That should get you full throttle. I had to change the length on mine when I went from carb to TBI so I would still get wide-open.
