I just got this for an early graduation gift from my dad.

which was handed down to him from his dad. That he never had a chance to restore. Since its mine now we are going to work on it together.

Its a short wheelbase fleetside with the small back window.

It has a 305 V8 from a 85 Chevy Blazer.

Like i said This truck needs restoring. The windshield is cracked. The bed wood is gone but the bed is in decent shape. The pass side rocker,floorboard, fender, and door has rust. cab corners are in good shape. The hood also has some rust.

Suggestions?

I live in Temple about 30 minutes west of Atlanta. I'm not sure what I want to do to it yet. I like the slammed and the rat rod look. I’m really undecided.

That’s cool. Yeah I def. don't have the money to throw away. Wish I did! It dose run, but still needs to be tweaked with a little. As it stands now I can't drive it far because I need new breaks. I'm thinking of doing the disk swap.

Looks good and welcome to the board! It's in pretty typical shape for one of these trucks especially in the hood. You might also want to look into another hood because it looks like a piece of work. Nice place to start though. Now crack open an LMC catalog and order yourself some panels.

I too received mine from my Grandpa but without it passing by my dad. Luckily though, both are still around to see it happen and help me when I need it. I Will hopefully have mine done by two weeks before my graduation which is in less than two months.

Thanks, everyone has said its in good shape. Its just hard for me to look at it that way since its my first on. I'm just glad to have it.

thats a very cool gift, My 64 GMC short fleet was my great grandfathers that I got after he passed away and I was 15 when I got it. It was my daily driver for about 6 years and then I tore it down to restore and that is where it sits. One of these days I will get back on it.
Good luck with your resto and yes I like the rat rod truck look also it has gotten me whanting to do that to mine if I ever get the time.

Welcome to the board! My first project in High School was a '73 Chevy, and was probably in the exact same condition as yours. I learned a lot from having that truck, as I am sure you will from having yours! Welcome to the gear head life!
