Question Steering Column Help

I bought a tilt column from a 73 today for $20 to put into my 82. Upon inspection of the 2 columns I noticed that the plug for all the large wires on the 82 is flipped 180 degrees. So I was wondering if it will be a plug and play or will I have to do some re-wiring.

Re: Steering Column Help

There were 2-3 different configurations between 73-87 so it's hit or miss. Check your steering shaft as well. There was a change in the shape mid 70's.

Re: Steering Column Help

Well I put the new column in. The turn signals work and the truck starts but no flashers so good enough for me.

Re: Steering Column Help

repin the plug on the column to match the one in the truck. The shape of the plastic plug is different, but the wires are in the same location.
