Ever had more than one thing go at once?

Well, I thought she was all together and sorted out. Then, a day after putting all the brackets/belts/pulleys on, I hear this noise. Whirrr whirrr
I think to myself: Hmm, sounds like a water pump going, or maybe an alternator. Gotta be one of 'em. Hmmm
Well, driving around a bit tonight and it goes away, I think, well that good . . . I guess. Then I notice my interior lights and headlights dimming. I think -- **** -- alternator. Hope I make it home. Well I did, and then whilst hooking up the battery charger, I hear gurgling. I go check the temp guage and -- **** -- sure enough . . . water pump went too! Damn! What are the odds? Only damn things I didn't buy new during my swap . . . figures.

No, can't say I've done that, but i have taken a corner (in a friend's car) and had the right front tire fall off and roll a block away.
Now that sucked.

hmmm... you didn't overtighten the belts did you?, that'll kill alternator and waterpump bearings pretty quick. Could be they were marginal anyway and the extra tension killed em off.

When I did my 700R4 swap this summer, it went from tranny-swap and radiator flush to tranny swap, rad flush, and head gaskets, to swap, flush, gaskets, and head work, to swap, flush, gaskkets, and Vortecs.

Are you saying that the belts aren't supposed to be as tight as piano strings?
