My Step-dad's '72
I thought I'd share a few pics I took last weekend when we were back at my parents. This truck is the reason I got in to this style way back when I was about 6 or 7. My step-dad is the second owner and he's had it for close to 30 years if I remember right. Anyway here we go.
Mostly stock engine bay. front end SPID 1 As you will see later in the pics, The interior is black now. SPID 2 And the side molding has been removed. Dash

Re: My Step-dad's '72
Dash, With original paint on it.
Bench, Recovered in black. converted to leafs from a late 70's model. Still rocking the trailing arm cross-member though. OH NO! Rust is starting to form on the rockers and cab corners. It's ok these have been replaced once before, about 15-20 years ago. The guy that did the body work didn't do worth a crap though. He laid both the rockers and cab corners over the originals instead of cutting them out. I guess we'll be looking for a new body guy.

Re: My Step-dad's '72
Original coolant tag on the radiator support
The original air cleaner and valve covers, not too sure about the tag though. Did they all come with 12 point bolts for the hood latch. He says they've been there since he's owned it. Original air cleaner tag? I know the truck was originally a 6 cylinder, 3-speed column shift truck. But the motor and trans is out of a wrecked '72. Hence the "original" valve covers and air cleaner.

Driver side antenna? He swears that's how it was when he bough it. That's the first I've seen though.
And a few misc. pics interior and exterior.

Re: My Step-dad's '72
You can still read the starting procedure on the visor.
A few dash pics This is all that's left of the parchment interior. I think he painted the retractor covers. Maybe they're original too. I don't know.

Re: My Step-dad's '72
I like it. Just a good ole survivor truck. I see the radio didn't come originally in that truck. It could have been put in any time if not by the dealer. Hence, the driver side antennae. I like those '64 caps.

That's interesting about the radio. The hole does looks factory. It's not a perfect round hole, it has little tabs around it. Like they're there to keep the antenna from rotating. And which one are the '64 caps? Like I said, it has 2 different style caps. I never even bothered to ask him why, I just though it was weird.

Re: My Step-dad's '72
Cool survivor truck.
The shift indicator is a pre-71 style. The previous 3-speed status, explains that. Love the color.

Nice truck. My 71 has those same bolts on the hood latch.

Re: My Step-dad's '72
I thought it was odd to see 12 point bolts on there, but it seems to be a bit of a recurring event.

That's one reason I decided to post up some pics. I new you'd like the color. Everything inside the cab has the original paint.

Re: My Step-dad's '72
I just realized it was a swb truck.
Even cooler. Why the switch to leaf springs?

Edit: I just went back and looked at the pics again. It looks like a 5 leaf spring pack with a helper spring under that. I would definitely say the swap has for towing/hauling. Do you have any pics of it. I'd be interested in seeing another truck with a DS antenna.

Re: My Step-dad's '72
Hey, I actually found photos....I'm not saying this is factory, just saying that's where the hole is. No hole on passenger side. And it's way too clean of a hole for my Uncle to have done, he did everything with a pocket knife and tin snips.

Re: My Step-dad's '72
I'll see what I can do. It'll be a few weeks before I can get more pics. It's at my parents house. A few hours away. I might just plan a trip up there just for you though.
