My wife's "new" truck.

After much frustration dealing with the computer controlled 95 jimmy my wife informs me that she is done with it and wants a pre computer/pre smog truck. After looking around she found this gem and we picked it up tonight. Drove it home a short 35 mile jaunt, it rode rock solid without wandering and no weird behavior of any kind. It did however have a creative "cure" for a failed headlight switch, a motor control switch from a machine attached to the radiator support. It worked to get us home, it's coming off tomorrow! Here's the pictures:

Very nice! Looks super clean. I would rather roll that as opposed to a "new" truck any day.

Re: My wife's "new" truck.

Man, I love an unmolested truck. We're going through a phase right now that's similar to what the 55-57 Chevy cars endured in the 70's. Everybody was chopping them up and rodding them, and the ones what got left alone turned into solid gold investments.

Not 'bashing' here - I'd never tell anyone what to do or not do to their own dang vehicles, just opinionatin'.

Beautiful truck!

That is one beautiful truck. Mine has the radio spot in the dash cut for a square radio and now I'll have to fix it. I too prefer original or slightly modified vehicles. I don't like cutting up classics but I do have a chop top '81 Monte Carlo. Guess I don't consider that a classic. You and your wife enjoy the ride brother.

It was parked in Oakland since '03. The guy who sold it to me said it was his girlfriend's grandfather's truck. It had a cracked exhaust manifold. They just got it running again last month and all the DMV stuff taken care of last week. He ran rubber fuel line from the driver's side saddle tank to the fuel pump (scary!). I'm going to replace the tank and hard lines.

My wife has had the bug for a long time, she drove a 64 short step in college and also drove double bottoms for her dad back then as well. I had a '60 long step when we got married.

She is very happy with this truck, she wants to change the color to a two tone with the Chevy turquoise but leave it otherwise mechanically stock.

Re: My wife's "new" truck.

Update: The headlight problem was a bad hi/lo switch.

And here was the PO's solution. Hey, it worked....
