Quick C60 question.
Looking at an old C60 with a dump bed. The engine is bad. I need to know what they use for engine mounts. Are they similar to the 67 and later that bolt to the sides of the block, or the ones that bolt to the front of the engine? I would be putting a late 70's engine in it, if it can be done fairly easy.

Re: Quick C60 question.
The '63-'66 C40-60's used the same motor mounts as the '63-'72 trucks with the I6 and small blocks. The frames have brackets for side mount motor mounts. Shouldn't be a problem putting a small block in it. The one thing is if the original engine was a 292 I6, you will have to move the passenger side motor mount bracket on the frame, back to the same distance from the bellhousing as the drivers side. I would there would be holes in the frame.

Re: Quick C60 question.
I agree with the Captain....as far as the I-6's go..
But somewhere in my memory banks.....back in the late '70's , I did a V-8 swap in a C-6o, and that one had the two bell housing mounts and one in the front center under the harmonic balancer.... Or maybe I was smokin the "Tall Grass" and just thought that's what I saw...

Re: Quick C60 question.
I'm not sure on that. But if it has a small block in it currently, your '70's engine will bolt right in. However if that V8 happens to be a 348/409, then you would have to come up with a small block front saddle, if that is the style it has.

In the early '70's GM went to the front saddle type motor mount in the medium duty trucks. Quote:

Re: Quick C60 question.
Its a small block for sure, not a 348. Will the front mount bolt to the front of the later blocks? The hood was kicked up in the rear and about to fall off the front of the truck, so I looked through the rear to see the engine.

Re: Quick C60 question.
As far as I know all Gen I small blocks have those front mounting holes.
