newbie looking for some advice on starting a build
hey guys,
i recently bought a 87 3+3 dually, 7.4 454 TBI. im looking to drop it as soon as i can to a good ride height, then save up to do the bags up right. this is my first build like this, so im in a whole new realm here.. i dont know what would be the best place to start, so if you could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it! meanwhile i shall take some pics thanks

Make sure the brakes are in good working order first, then look over the engine for any rubber parts or wires that are about to fail, fix 'em, then git yo azz over to summitracing.com, punch in your vehicle info, then drool over all the cool junk for your truck, and decide what you want to buy first.

What he said, but also think about doing a major overhaul by doing a complete disassembly as it is a 24 year-old truck, and you don't want to be playing a game of whack-a-mole with it. Take it all apart and start from the ground up, when you're done you'll be glad you did. |

Or go to Jegs. I think their website is better laid out than Summits.

Check all of your suspension bushings, especially the control arms and your ball joints too. A big heavy truck like that chances are good they're worn out. If you can do it yourself you'll save a fortune, and get the polygraphite replacements when you do so you'll only have to do it once.
