F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
I researched these and called my GM parts guy and it appears that these from the part # fit 70-72. The Dorman after market ones at Advance run over $20.00 each. I will sell all 6 of these for $60.00 shipped. You can refer to this WIW thread for more info on these. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=497411

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
Are these 7/16" or 1/2"?
('70 was 6-lug 7/16", and 71-72 were 1/2"-20)

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
From what I was told in his computer it specifies 70 disc (which is 5 lug) and 71-72 all.

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
They are indeed 1/2"-20. I just checked them on my Weld wheel lug nuts for my 70 CST 5 lug disc.

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
Some of your 70's were 5 lug disc especially some of your more highly optioned trucks. I have a 1970 CST three owner truck and it is an original 5 lug disc brake truck.

Never ever seen a 5 lug disc brake truck in the 1970 model year.

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
I will see if I can get you guys some black and white info on this. I have seen several 70's with disc in this area. The info on these studs was given to me by one of my good friends that has been a GM parts manager for 30+ years and I would damn near trust anything he told me about a GM product. The info he gave me came straight out of a GM parts book.

Here is some information
I also have three other option sheets if you would like to see them also. This is some info that I had on my pc and if you want I will try and scan the parts book that he has showing correct applications for these studs. PT

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
Does your '70 have the J62 option code on the SPID?
If that document is correct,... then you could have had it on any of the 67-70 trucks? Maybe we should start a separate thred for this. I am very interested to say the least!

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
Keith is right. That would be neat to see it on a 67-70 spid. I've had many 67-70's and never run into it. Surely a member has seen it. Pretty cool. Learn something new every day !

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
Notice that option list includes options for big trucks too, so maybe the discs were for a different application and not the light duty trucks? Hope it was an option that would be cool!

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
Someone painted over my spid when they painted the truck so unfortunately I cannot refer to it. This is a GM document so I do not see why it would not be correct. I will start a new thread when I get to work tonight and try and post the other three option sheets.

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
Guys I will get to this as soon as I can but I am on 12 hour nights for the next three nights. I will try and start a new thread in the message board and post the link here. I will also try and get the copy of the GM parts manual from my buddy at the dealership where it states that these studs are for 70 disc and 71-72 all. I feel like I am at the firing range and ya'll are holding the guns but I can handle it.

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
I have also never seen factory disc brakes on a 70 pickup. The sheet pictured looks to be big truck or i wonder if elcamino shared the same options numbers?
Hopefully this will help clear things and not clutter your sale. The info from my parts book list these as rear hub with ho35, spicer 44 and 60-35 axle, ho 52, ho 72, sp 60 and h110 axle.

Look at the transmissions listed on that list.
Were all of those available in 1970?

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
PT look at the spindle arm where the drag link attaches. There should be an aluminum band that looks similar to a early zip tie attached to the spindle. This should provide all the info. on the spindle- ie the build date and possibly the code as well.
As far as the option list, that is a GM list, but it does have 10-30 series and 40- 60 series as well as el camino options included. That is the truck master list. It is possible that it is for the camino but the have the car pattern and still have the 7/16 studs I believe. Another item, these trucks share alot of parts with camaros, chevelles and the big car line- mostly trim items, do a little comparison to the back up lights and cargo lights on 68 camaro- same stuff exactly. Also look at the gas trim and the clutch pedal trim from same cars it is the same. In saying this I also believe that it is possible that it could be an option in 70 simply because the disc technology was already in place but limited to high end cars but very rare. 71 was the first year it was standard and non option to get it on light trucks, when did it become become standard on cars? I could be like seat belts and other options early, rare and become standard either to save money or avoid law suits, just like the throttle rods and cables. Breaking motor mounts ushered in the change for cables and in 72 bb trucks the shift occurred early for motor mounts. My point is it is possible and feel if the tin tag decodes the correct dates coupled with the GM book paul could be correct.

Re: F/S NOS wheel studs (70-72) rear
The Chevy Truck parts book lists these as rear 70 C-1 w/disc brakes, along with 71 G-20 and 71 series-10 (exc. 4wd) and 10 required. I can see where it would appear that GM offered 5-lug disc brakes on '70 C/10s. I've seen a lot of things on this site I never knew was possible from what I had seen in 40 years of looking.
