No back up lights....

What cause no reverse lights to come on? My lights work when I press the brake pedal.

Sounds like grounding gremlins. Run a ground wire from a bare metal spot on the frame and touch it on the lense screw.

Might check wire and switch on top of column and see if you are getting power. Block your tires, turn on ignition,(not running),put into reverse and see if you got juice to lights.

Have someone stand behind the truck while you run the gear selector from park to neutral. If the lights blink on, the switch needs adjustment.
If you look at the switch, there will be four wires attached to it with two different plugs. The purple wires are for the neutral safety start. The other two wires are for the backup lights. Pull that connector off and short across the plug with a piece of wire with the key on. If the lights work, you have a bad or misadjusted switch.
Let us know what you find.

Glad mine isn't kerfaggled! I imagine that's pretty bad, eh?
Mine is slightly defuggered. It just needs a little adjustment, for the last 3 years...
I didn't think they even worked until one night I was backing up and didn't quite get in reverse. I was looking around trying to figure out who turned on the porch light when I finally realized my reverse lights were actually on! Now, if they would work when the truck is actually in reverse... I know, adjus tit! Some day I will dern it!

Since I have a panel there is no veiw out the sides and limited visibility out the back.I adjusted mine and while I was at it I added a back up alarm from a forklift.I feel safer backing up and it sure attracts attention. That makes it much more likely a small child won't wonder behind the truck while I'm backing up.Also makes it easier for other drivers to know they can have the spot I'm vacating if they will give me space to back out.
