Hollywood Squares

Sorry to disappoint any of you who were hoping to pop on here and see a riveting discussion about the game show. Well, truth be told, if you want to comment about the game show, go ahead we can accommodate that too, haha. However, on a different thread recently there were a few favorite TV and movie squarebodies named and I thought this would be a good place to mention those and maybe accumulate some photos. I'll admit, my move back into squares and actually my discovery of this site came from wanting to have a truck that carried the vibe of The Fall Guy's GMC. A few others were mentioned on LEEVON's current build thread. Maybe those guys will see this and drop in a few photos too. So which Hollywood based squarebodies do you like, and do any of you also have a truck that you are building to pick up on a look or vibe that you saw on TV or in a movie?

Jim Rockford (James Garner) sometimes drove his dad's truck on "The Rockford Files".

The gold one is not correct from any film. The ochre blazer is from Jaws 1 and this blue ‘77 Jimmy is from Jaws 2:

Re: Hollywood Squares

Nice! I definitely remember Jon's truck and I was hoping that this thread would also bring a few out of the woodwork that I wasn't aware of. I sort of maybe remember that truck from Rockford Files but not the Jaws one at all. In more recent times, Stranger Things had a squarebody Blazer for the local cop. In fact, they bought a Blazer from a member here in the UK. For some reason they must be doing some filming there. I don't know if the third season of ST has come out yet so don't spoil it for me if it has, haha. I have to wait until it shows up on netflix.

Re: Hollywood Squares

I didn't now about the Chips truck but did about the Rockford Files one. I don't know the story on the two versions of the Jaws Blazer. Maybe they got rid of the first one before they knew there would be a sequel or two three four. Maybe they redid the original after it got rusty from the beach. The gold one has no fender/quarter emblems, lock out hubs and a different roll bar. I found a website, "Frazer Fast Facts" with info but no mention of two versions. Not too sure about their "facts" since they said it's a '75. They also said '73 is the year the full top was introduced. Another thing they said was this Blazer was later used in the movie "Last American Hero". same or not, here is another Hollywood Square perhaps less known

EDIT: I found info that says the gold one is a replica someone built that sold at Barrett-Jackson for $22k+. I forgot to get what year that was. A complete build and they did it the wrong color

IIRC, a square was driven by Patrick Swayze's character in "Red Dawn". It didn't make it very far into the movie but was fairly active in its scenes.

I've liked these trucks for a long long time but I had forgotten about some of these even though I had seen the movies. Here's another one from The Fall Guy.

The bed compartment under the rollbar was a neat customization.
I think this is a replica truck. Still kinda neat.

Not sure whether the screen used truck had the rollbar mounted to the frame or not. Probably "or not" since it's for show. They likely had several trucks dolled up to look nearly the same and only one or two had the hidden compartment. Possibly only opening on one side depending on what the scene required. The truck in the first post picture obviously doesn't have the side compartment.
Typically production companies had several specialized camera mounted and several stunt vehicles that were reinforced, had tow cable hookups, and had driveline parts removed to lighten them for jumps etc that only had to look like the complete vehicle from 10, 20, ... feet.

I believe they had between 5 & 10 1982-1985 Pontiac Firebirds for the Knight rider series and dozens of '68 & '69 Chargers for the General Lee not to mention the other screen vehicles that they needed duplicates of. One of the things that make TV and Movie productions with vehicles expensive.

Definitely. Many versions of the "same" Fall Guy truck. They eventually developed a jump truck and you can see the cage in the first picture on the thread where the small-block is mounted amidships for that truck.

Lived in Mesa, AZ where this was filmed. You are right, its a hilarious movie. I watched the scene with my parents when they ran the Edsel into the transformer and blew it up, in person. That whole area is now apartments, and Roy L. Fuchs lot, which was Darner Chrysler-Plymouth, is now a generic auto dealer.
