It just seems like there's nothing better than a new set of tires , After waiting 7 + months on back ordered rims , Just old school Chrome 15" Vette rallys My BF good rich T/A radials showed up today . I've ordered tires on line before ,These came from Jegs and showed up boxed . 255 x 70 x 15 .

Re: Nothings better than a new set of tires
Nice set up! I'm still waiting on my 10" rallies, but glad you got your rims. Now hopefully summit will get mine out to me. I'm gonna try to run a 295/50/15 on the rear of my truck.

Re: Nothings better than a new set of tires
I do love that new tire feeling (and smell). Never seen tires shipped in boxes. I do know FedEx got me back when I was selling wheels. I'd send just the wheel and they'd slap labels on it, no problem. Then they started up-charging for "non-encased" parcels. They charge close to 50% more because the wheels weren't boxed.
New tires are "one of" those great feelings. Maybe it's the most often one. But freshly painted and a fresh built motor are hard to beat. and of course there is a freshly completed interior!!

Re: Nothings better than a new set of tires
There's just something about the chrome rallys and white letter tires that screams 1970's to me , I went with the rallys thinking it's an easy less expensive wheel to replace if I ever need to and then it took 7 months to get all of them , i posted the picture because it's the first time I've ever seen tires shipped in boxes But for the price increases on wheels and tires they should have come GIFT wrapped , Lets just say I'm probably only going to get a package of socks for Christmas this year under the tree .

Re: Nothings better than a new set of tires
I totally agree.
I put new tires and rims on my '71 Jimmy. I had been running 33x12.50x15 meats on 10 x 15 chrome steel rims since I got it in '95. I was getting atrocious gas mileage. Great off road, sure, but I'm rarely there. So I went down to 235/75/R16 Coopers on 9x16 aluminum rims. Kickouts from a buddy's '99 Suburban. I talked him out of recycling them for the metal. Night and Day difference. The Jimmy handles fine, especially in town. My speedometer isn't 10 - 12 MPH off, it's within 2 or 3 MPH of GPS indicated groundspeed. I did need 1.25'' spacers. OEM backspace for '67-'72 trucks is 3-5/8'' -- the aluminum rims were 5.'' Looking cool is a side benefit. TOP -- New Tires BOTTOM -- Old ones

Re: Nothings better than a new set of tires
I was riding on a set of dry rotted Goodrich T/A's for almost 15 years when I took the plunge to get a new set of Wheelsmith Rallyes and brand new T/A's. A fresh alignment by the best alignment shop in town and I am in hog heaven.
