Re: Nothings better than a new set of tires

I totally agree.
I put new tires and rims on my '71 Jimmy. I had been running 33x12.50x15 meats on 10 x 15 chrome steel rims since I got it in '95. I was getting atrocious gas mileage. Great off road, sure, but I'm rarely there.
So I went down to 235/75/R16 Coopers on 9x16 aluminum rims. Kickouts from a buddy's '99 Suburban. I talked him out of recycling them for the metal.
Night and Day difference. The Jimmy handles fine, especially in town. My speedometer isn't 10 - 12 MPH off, it's within 2 or 3 MPH of GPS indicated groundspeed. I did need 1.25'' spacers. OEM backspace for '67-'72 trucks is 3-5/8'' -- the aluminum rims were 5.''
Looking cool is a side benefit.

Have you noticed how bad your Blazer was being steered by pavement ruts with those 12.50 wides?

Re: Nothings better than a new set of tires

You just can't beat that tire & wheel combination! TA/Radials were the state of the art tire back in the day, and those chrome rally's are a timeless muscle look that commands respect! Nicely done OG, your whole truck is looking awesome! I still have my rally's around here with the TA's blown off them in burnout contests... Took a first place trophy home for this one... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jXx...VEXyeB&index=1 "Cheers!"

Re: Nothings better than a new set of tires

I agree with you, the title of your post says it well! I also understand about the wait for your wheels, I experienced the same. Waited 5 months for my 16x6 smoothies, new tires (love the new tire smell too) mounted shortly after they arrived.
