New division bar felt torn up by window metal corner.
I was putting together a driver side door for my 67 c10 68 with a 67 vent window with parts laying around and I put everything together and put new precision seals in it as well as rebuilding the vent window and on the bottom right part of the window there is a metal channel that the glass sits in and and the corner of the channel is tearing up the felt going up and down. Window is hard going up and down because its catches on the felt in certain spots and is tearing it. Anyone ever hear of this? I'm letting the weatherstripping glue adhere for a bit longer with the window down but I don't know if something in the door is tweaked or what.

Check that the metal channel on the bottom of the glass is centered . It should be 3/4" in from both ends .

I had a similar problem after replacing the division bar seal/felt. The channel that holds the glass had a sharp burr on the end of it that for some reason never snagged the original seal. I carefully filed the channel with a file I ground smooth along one edge so it would not nick the glass. Problem solved.

It looks like the new felt isn't seated all the way in ? did you clean the old felt all the way out before installing the new felt ?

Re: New division bar felt torn up by window metal corner.
You are right it isn't fully seated with the adhesive I used for whatever reason that may be part of the problem. I wouldn't think it would be interfering with the riveting. I took some photos of the glass and I think the glass may have shifted back. I looked at the passenger side window and it looks more even how you were saying. Is there a way to adjust the glass on the channel? Also good way to hold the felt tight while it dries?

Yep that’s exactly what I’m talking about. There’s a thread where fbks and I both went thru it.

Re: New division bar felt torn up by window metal corner.
Believe me I understand, when I put mine together I was in the same boat. Pissed me off to have a brand new felt shredded. Hopefully yours will be the same fix as mine was.

Re: New division bar felt torn up by window metal corner.
I replaced both felt channels in my truck 4 years ago.. The channel piece that the glass sits was off center and rubbed against the old felt channel.. I re-centered the glass, lubed the regulator, and installed the new felt.. The felt does NOT need to be glued, just pressed into place and sprayed with a dry silicone type glass lubricant..
