WTB: Tach/dwell meter
Looking for a working, US made Tach/dwell meter like the Sears example I gave my brother a generation ago. I might go back to a points distributor. Thanks for the help.

Re: WTB: Tach/dwell meter
Pete, let me check in the garage/shop dark corners and get back with you. Think I still have my RAC (Rite Autotronics) unit along with my Sears chrome inductive timing light. Haven't used either in some time. Will look and see if your interested? It worked fine last time I used it.

Re: WTB: Tach/dwell meter
Thanks, I appreciate that. I kept a hold of my chrome Sears timing light - that’s a fun tool to use.

Yessir, that was plan B. Wanted to see if I could “keep it in family” so to speak and find one here. I’m waxing nostalgic for points. I don’t miss cleaning vinyl records though Not that nostalgic, lol.

Re: WTB: Tach/dwell meter
I had an Actron for years and it grew legs and walked out of my shop. I found a like new replacement on Ebay.
The Arkansas K10 has the proper points and condenser. Runs like a top.

Re: WTB: Tach/dwell meter
I just rebuilt the original points distributor for my 1970. Here is a list of genuine USA made NOS Delco parts I used to bring it back: List is for 1972 350 Blazer: Cap: D308R/ 12338667 OR 1971244 Rotor: D409/1932015 The light duty rotor D426R 1852722 is an option, but I never liked them. Points: D106P/1931988 Condenser: D204/1932004 Uniset points/condenser: D1007 1876600 Vacuum advance can: 1973437 Coil: D512/1115238 I used repro plug wires date coded for my application from this seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/253117261028?hash=item3aeef6e4e4:g:P-gAAOSw7Cdh2Nuk&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0O3W8EOJGfGq%2FcSXcKlZ5ENh%2BR2WlOm%2F%2BN5YkgUHIylyj6FGxhCsDXz4 RrvElItUEb2g3DPu6bytG2rqnGGkHNCN%2FKUkPghzb%2FeYv6cyl2SmP2QiCyr2R9NcersrgCCkowYm784FJWqNB4a58eocXS74 QuCFJqudHImy%2Bd9b3gWptrQLzix2mYxotVSBHQRUIsghhqgH%2BDD%2FEXLb6YH4S662gPt3sLXLY9FfrZZ%2BzYJr0mKLCzRs 8s3IduI40fz6ebbobMy%2FNQ7Fk25JM%2BQtMkk%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9qt19ezYw

Re: WTB: Tach/dwell meter
Thanks! That's a huge help. I'd like to post your p/n's to a thread I started HERE about reconfiguring for points with an engine harness designed for use w an HEI.
I've got Delco points and rotors (D426r, didn't know to look for D409) on the way and Napa had a US made black with copper/brass cap. I've got very similar possible the same wires from Lectric Limited HERE

Re: WTB: Tach/dwell meter
Couple of years ago when I was still running points I went looking for a handheld dwell meter to tune my 71 C/20. Asking around town , no one even knew what I was talking about. Just about everyone around me that was knowledgeable on older vehicles has either died or moved away. Kid at Napa just had a dumb look when I asked him about one.

Re: WTB: Tach/dwell meter
if you're "rebuilding" a distributor, don't forget breaker plate bushing/spacer, shaft bushings/thrust washers, etc.
wobbling shaft/breaker plate will give you much grief with all brand new points, cap, rotor, etc. replaced my first distributor at 16yo for this reason, jumping through my butt chasing my tail to get steady timing also learned how to static time a v8 olds over the phone with the store I bought it from

Re: WTB: Tach/dwell meter
Mine was not loose, therefore not mentioned. Good info to add..
Don't forget the points cam lubricator, or just a small amount of distributor cam lube.

Re: WTB: Tach/dwell meter
Pete, received $$ this morning and just got back from shipping the dwell/tach your direction. As mentioned, if the dwell/tach no longer works let me know and I will refund the $$. Do not have a points vehicle any longer to test it with since I changed over to the Pertronix Igniter ignition. PM sent with tracking info, thanks again for the purchase.
