Re: Parking Brake Clearance w/ kick panel speakers
You could install the hand brake from a 67-68 truck.

I don't think this is a good solution. I'm thinking about this bend.

Re: Parking Brake Clearance w/ kick panel speakers
You might be able to bend the parking brake pedal to clear the speaker housing.

That looks interesting. Could you show more pictures and from different angles?

Re: Parking Brake Clearance w/ kick panel speakers
I think the bend you are thinking about would work as a solution. It will be interesting to see pictures of the completed bend/weld installed. You may need to also move the low/high beam stomp switch.

Re: Parking Brake Clearance w/ kick panel speakers
I considered putting the Kick Panel speakers in my truck, until I came to the same realization, the Park brake pedal won’t clear it.
I can’t remember if the Dimmer switch was going to be an issue also. Reconfiguring the pedal lever would put the pedal four inches to the right, and look kinda awkward. Leverage and strength of the lever would also come into play. As someone said, putting a pull lever from a 67/68 would work for you with no issues. |

Re: Parking Brake Clearance w/ kick panel speakers
I ended up doing this. I cut the emergency break pedal and pad. I used black RTV on the pad to hold it in place. I shifted the dimmer switch up and out a hair to have access to it. I have size 14 feet and pretty long legs so this gave me room to maneuver my body parts around well.
Your speakers are much deeper than mine so this may not work as well. I like you idea, but if your truck is manual it may make it awkard for using clucth or at least very tight on foot room. You will also probably need to shift the dimmer switch out more either way

Re: Parking Brake Clearance w/ kick panel speakers
I really appreciate your nice responses and all the solutions. I think bending is the best solution.

Re: Parking Brake Clearance w/ kick panel speakers
I have them in my truck and they clear just fine. I would venture a guess that it depends on the brand of speakers. The ones in the OP's pics look like they have thick grille on them. Mine are Kicker brand. I can get a pic after work if anyone wants to see, just post and let me know.

Re: Parking Brake Clearance w/ kick panel speakers
Always wondered about the parking brake interference. There are plenty of modern, high quality, shallow mount speakers available today. I wonder if any company has a newer kick panel design to take advantage of this?
