Points to HEI problems
I have currently took out my points and added an HEI distributor. Ever since I've done that the truck will burn up my starter. I've gone through three starters. Do I have to disable the ignition pulse amplifier for my AGI to work? Has anybody else had this kind of problem? Thank you in advance.

Re: Points to HEI problems
Do you still have 3 wires going to your starter? You should only have 2 with an HEI. Power and trigger wire
Also, would you like me to move this thread to the electrical forum section?

Re: Points to HEI problems
First how did you wire it and did you bypass the resister wire from the old setup. Next going through starters with an ignition change is a timing issue in most cases.

Re: Points to HEI problems
I have removed the resister wire and ran a switch power to the distributor.

Re: Points to HEI problems
That is the problem it does not turn over at all. I believe I have multiple issues. I got frustrated and put it away a couple months ago. Just pulled it out and started tinkering again and now I'm having problems with the horn relay. So many issues I don't know where to start.

Re: Points to HEI problems
It is safe to hook the HEI to the pink wire from your ignition switch.
