I wonder what the shear load is on those two Grade 5 bolts?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Today I extracted the Speedometer from my '67 K/10 Suburban's instrument cluster, and used it to replace the Speedo in my '68 C/10 Stepside.
Mechanically, the operation was OK, but electrically, I failed somewhere.* I have no Dash Lights. Cab [Dome] Light works OK. Hazard Flashers work. The Left Turn Indicator bulb is constant ON. It was dark when I knocked off for the day. With no instrument lights, I did not test run at night. In the daylight, I will test run the Stepside to see if the Speedo reads right. Before, the OEM Speedo was running very slow. 35 MPH indicated when GPS read 50 MPH groundspeed. A friend offered to recalibrate the unit. * I believe there is an Open where the rectangular plug for the Cluster Connector meets the copper leads of the Printed Circuit. One of the plastic tabs on the Connerctor side broke off a couple years ago. I got a new one mail order, but now I can't find it. Also about 3 of the copper leads on the PC are loose. I think the Connector wobbled loose when I had to wiggle the Panel around to get to the six screw holes. Tomorrow is another day.

in response to your shear load question well they say a picture is worth ...how many words ![]() second pic if I ever thought I would tie down something remotely heavy in the back of my sweet little stepper when I remove the bed to fix the POs bed work minus the side angles I would put some reinforcing brackets on the back side of the head board and some grade eights and then I can haul around something more exciting like one of these......just sayin never contemplated heavy hauling but like the option to tie down a cooler or chair for a trip to a show
