Re: supra tailights

These trucks are so popular because they were so well styled from the factory and made before the Japanese invasion. It`s not where parts were made,it`s what they came on and the era they are styled for.Everyone do what you like. But,I leave them with stock body Qs because in time I`ve learned we look back on changes and puke in our mouth. The same guys that are modernizing/defacing the bodies on these trucks look at a truck customized a decade or two back and have all the negative comments.I look at the big picture and a truck with the General`s styling wins out with the crowd everytime and always will.

Only real mod I did to my truck was the fuel tank relocation. Filled one hole and cut another, but it blends well, at least I think it does.

Thought about lowering it a time or two, but it's already pretty low stock, so I don't think I would like it.

As far as the taillights, they just don't "go" with anything on the back of the truck, unless you completely smooth it out.

Re: supra tailights

I like them in a roll pan, but not in place of the original lights....contours just aren't right in my own way of thinking. The only electrical issue I can see is that these lights have their turn signals apart from the brake/tail lights. It shouldn't be too difficult to sort out the wiring and power the amber bulbs.

In the roll pan is good. In place of the original ones, I say no.

Re: supra tailights

There's some Corvette owners who customized them in the 60's and are kicking their butts because they did. The old Corvette customs are being returned to stock because a stock Corvette is worth more. I would never do anything to my blazers that couldn't be returned to stock.

Re: supra tailights

Think of it this way...Say you`re looking for a truck to buy and you find one that`s real nice, but you come around to see it was altered to suit the owner.Turns most guys off.We want to find virgin metal, right? It`s only proper to leave it that way for the next guy.
It was popular, and still many do it,to cut car lights into Stepside fenders.I`ve seen guys selling nice fenders that were hacked for lights and it deterred the sale.

Re: supra tailights

this is kinda like the factory dash radio cutout. if you like it and it makes you happy do it, after all your the one driving it and it is just sheetmetal. you can always get a patch panel and undo it. for me though, id say it doesnt look good.

Just look at the size compared to the licence plate... go hold your plate to your truck and see if you want something that big

They look like staging lights at the drag strip to me. Doesn't work IMO.

The bodywork on the trucks posted above is nice on all of em, but my God, those taillights don't look good on ANY of them, except the top pic.

To be honest, I don't even know what the truck is. I think it's a 90 something to 04 Tacoma?

I understand what you are stating, but if we all thought that way, all the truck would be the exact same way. No individualism at all. That is one of the reasons why I love these trucks. There is a lot of stuff that you can do, subtle to extreme, to these trucks and it inspires the next person. I may not like the look of it, but it's not the worst mod I seen on these trucks.

I say go for it, and show up some pics if you decide to go this route. Who knows, you may change some people's minds to do this mod. Good Luck

Swap sides to get the backup lights on the bottom.Build your truck the way you want.Just remember if you "Supra" the taillights next thing ya' know you will be "Lamborgini'ing" the doors.

i think if you are going to put any kindof aftermarket (not 67-72) tail lights on you should go with the caddy lights...like these..

Another thing to consider, apparently it`s a trend? So you go through all this work and end up with a look that`s worn out and everyone moves on to the next trend.
I`m not saying what to do with your truck.Just giving some points to consider.Yeah...I think they`re ugly,I like these trucks how they are,and can`t imagine even having time to worry with cahnging out the tail light style of a truck.
