There is a guy who is posting a build of a 51 GMC with a Vortec 4200 in it. He has a megasquirt fuel injection system and has installed a turbocharger on it. The stock motor witht the turbo put out 280 hp on a dyno run. He has a link to the video, its on youtube. He's building another engine with CNC'd intake and and a few other performance parts.
I have seen pics of a 64 Chevy Fleetside that has one in it too. I think the picture link was in that same thread.

I have a 60 stepside that I would like to put one in. The price for a salvage yard engine is not bad and there is a company called www.speartech.com that will modify the wiring harness and ecu for stand alone operation.

From what I have read so far oil pan clearence is a problem but how hard could that be to fix.
