Love the solid wheels. Eliminates deciding what pattern you want.

Re: Pacific Coast Customs Shop Truck
Hows the steering geometry working out with the 2004 rack & pinion? I was thinking about using the same rack on my 73 Suburban, but I'm a little worried about the difference in the toe being all over the place between being laid out & fully locked up.

Re: Pacific Coast Customs Shop Truck
Saw it was up fore sale on Craigs list. One of my buddies was looking at it, but I think the comment about the rack needing to be set up to correct the bump steer scared him away.

Re: Pacific Coast Customs Shop Truck
Well guys, nothing has been done to the truck. I'm sad to say, thats why it's for sale. Im not trying too hard to sell it, but if someone wants it, it's for sale.
The problem with the rack is that the spindles need to be modified where the tie rod end goes on them. Simple fix really, we're perfectly comfortable welding to spindles, so we'll just cut it off, reposition it a bit lower to correct all of the bumpsteer and weld it back on. You could do it without modifying the spindle if you wanted. You could machine adaptors to run heim joints off of the rack and pinion and machine a spacer to run the heim joint the proper distance below the spindle. Neither a big deal, I would rather weld to the spindle then run my steering off of a spacer. It depends on what you're more comfortable with. Thanks for the compliments guys! I don't check the forums very often. Thanks for the compliments on the August issue of Street Trucks, it was a great issue and awesome photos of the truck. Yes, we are building Josh's truck, which is why this truck doesn't get worked on. Josh's is the same body style but far far more intense then this build, this truck would look stock next to his! However, I can't show any photos of his truck.
