Re: head of a vortec 350

if they are the fast burn heads (they will have what looks like mountain peaks on the front surface) and you have a manifold that will match i say go for it they make some decent power especially with the right cam.

they can be had from http://www.jegs.com/p/GM-Performance...49896/10002/-1

the intake manifold is different but everything else will fit up (except the tbi unit(however a 454 tbi should fit fine))

They also make carbed intakes for Vortec heads. The Vortec heads with the right cam, and Edelbrock air gap intake WILL put down 400 horsepower on a stock 350 bottom end. Considering your bottom end isnt worn out. I have personally had one with stock bottom, STOCK vortec heads and springs, Edelbrock intake, and cam(dont remember specs but you dont need alot of cam with these heads) 750 Holley carb that put down 377 @ the tires. Do a google search for Vortec head swap.

Re: head of a vortec 350

The vortec heads make good power. The only cons I can think of is the limit on the cam lift and the intake is vortec head specific. I have a built a 355 with slightly modified vortec heads almost ready to go in my swb. It has a gm hot cam setup.

Re: head of a vortec 350

i used a set of vortecs from a 97 model and bought a professional products carb intake form summit, and let me tell you, for the money i saved instead of going with aftermarket, it was well worth it..
i then rebuilt the bored .040 and stuck a comp 268xe cam in, and got the vortec heads cleaned and just had them do higher lift springs and that engine was a beast... alot of torque and very quick.... i say go for it....
