Sound like you have had bad experiences with warped flanges and headers.

Over tightening will cause blown gaskets. Bolts coming loose cause blown gaskets and making the header too tight causes a warped flange

A header lock washer kit and gaskets called REMFLEX fix the issues very nicely. Been running my paper thin flanged headmans for two years like this. Have had no issues so far

Look into REMFLEX gaskets they are nice

Yes I have been through the thin flange header issues. I run a copper gasket in my dougs and have never had an issue on the upper. I for im dealing with thin flanged headers in ill look into that gasket for sure.

Right! The set on my 76 I got a blemished set for about half the price but I need some for the burb now and im looking at paying a pretty penny for them.

Put teflon tape on the threads of the header bolts and they will not back out. When you want them out, they will unscrew as needed. It works like a charm and lasts a long time.

I have never had a set of headers that I installed have the gaskets go out, but... I always use stock Felpro (or whatever?) manifold gaskets.
Never seemed to give me any issues?

I have herd that b4. Never tried it. seems like its not an issue anymore. My try y headers have been on 9 years with no leaks. No loose bolts.
