steering column bearing problem
I took the column apart to repaint and noticed that nothing holds in the bearings on the ends of the column. I that the way it should be or is something missing?

Re: steering column bearing problem
The lower one has a spring & clamp that push against the brg. The upper is pressed in the mast jacket. The plastic piece under the steering wheel holds it down when the steering wheel is tightened down.

There was no spring or clamp on the end. Where can I get parts like that?

Re: steering column bearing problem
what's the best way to grease them (and with what type of grease) while it's apart? I've heard to just "pack" them (while still in the column) as one would pack wheel bearings(??) sorry to hijack, but thought this might be something you'd like to do while you have it semi-apart (and I had the question myself).
