Probably one of my best junk yard finds is the factory tach currently in my truck I picked up at a yard many years ago for $15, entire dash panel minus the gas gauge? Rat holed it in the garage and bought an original GM tach dash printed circut while still available. Kept it rat holed until I rebuilt/restored the truck and installed it then. Still working great.
70custom10nut, are you still currently in Vielsek, Germany? Been there, done that years ago when I was in Uncle Sam's Boy's Club aka US Army. Stationed in Budengen, Germany near Hanau and Gelnhausen. 3rd Sqdrn, 12th Cav, part of 3rd Armd Div. in early 68 to early 69. Spent a LOT of time at Grafenwheor (sp), Hoenfels, Vielsek, Teargarten, etc. living in tents and playing at going to war with Russia. Uncle Sam decided I needed a vacation and sent me to sunny SE Asia for a year. Germany was much better !

For me it would be a factory or dealer add on brush guard, been looking for several years with no luck....also a roof visor.

Came off a 71 or 72 Chevy Cheyenne, glove box was gone so I didn't get to see SPID. But it sure looked factory, I have heard both sides say that it was a dealer only option, but then I saw an option code for it, so.... I dunno?

Board member jeremiahking had an all original 69 GMC with the drip rail moulding, also listed on the SPID.

I bought my holy grail part from Bills Bowtie back in '05,a high hump A/C clearance lamp cab in really nice shape for one of the three'72 K/20s (2 K/20s & 1 K2500) I had at the time. Now I just have the K2500 and want to swap that on whenever I paint it.
My holy grain vehicle is a K/20 Panel and a member here just got a sweet '68...one of 68 made Yes. Made a "typo". It is a truck RPO code as well as Chevelle/El Camino. I think there are factory parts that won't be found in the parts book. It seems I've found other things not listed.I'd have to check for other exceptions.

Gave up on the holly grail stuff at junk yards here in SoCal years ago. Finding a 67-72 C/K with many usable parts is rare. Every once in a while one will show up but is usually sawsalled in a matter of hours. I look for the usual trim, delete parts, shoulder belts, dashes, glove box doors, misc fasteners, but leave empty handed more often than not.

There should be one out there for you. A company called J & J Enterprises,Inc made them in the late '80s-early '90s in either chromed or primed. I've had two,used one and sold the other just a few years ago to a member. Google their name and you'll see Street Performance sells their running boards. Maybe you can find a way to contact J & J and maybe they even still have some old stock
