What happened??

OK,just completed, rear end swap and drop,1984 step,sb and long tail shaft 350, installed shackles and hangers, removed overload spring, dropped 4and1/2" and if it matters its a 2wd and i installed another 10and1/2 rear end .but it is a 6lug from the same year.installed new center bolts and new u-bolts.heres the problem my drive shaft is now too long.it is jambed into the trans.had to force it in rear yoke.its too long? the other thing is i replaced the rear shocks with new front shocks, read that would work, problem with shocks is they are too short, will not stretch to lower bracket?need some help, thanks in advance, you guys always come through

Re: What happened??

You dropped the truck, the rearend is now closer to the transmission. As you decrease the driveshaft angle you are also decreasing the distance from the rearend to the transmission. Most people probably don't see enough of a difference to worry about it but you probably had the perfect storm and have the right combo where you are seeing a problem.

Re: What happened??

well think man the rear end moves up and down and as it does the shaft gets longer or shorter and now you have shorten the over all leangh. also some rears has a longer poinon shaft then others and it sounds like yours is from a heavy half or something more heavy duty

Re: What happened??

Are you trying to install the driveshaft with the weight off the wheels?

Yes - or shorten the one you have.

I'd wait and see what you've got once you get the new/modded shaft installed, and go from there.

You are straightening the angles out, which is favorable in terms of vibration. You will just want them equal and in opposite directions when done.

Re: What happened??

I would do shock relocators before shock extensions. Have you corrected the shock angle yet?
