Correction, I did put a nos rocker on the passenger side. The body was super nice, that's why it got painted black

Did you add the cab clearance light pads too or is that a very late production 68?

Joe, that is a very nice truck. I have liked it a long time too. Good luck with the sale! Did the end result just end up being too nice to use once you completed it?

The truck had the old style long cab lights with the chrome on the top. I don't like those, so I changed to the 69-72 type. There isn't a raised pad for them, but they worked.

They truck did turn out super nice, but it wasn't built for any purpose. It's been great for car shows and stuff, but it mostly just sits. Just ready for something different I guess.

That's really surprising. I was thinking it would go for a lot more than the amount you needed in the ol pocket.

Not that the next auction couldn't fill your pocket. You never know. You came close, but it's good to hold your ground on a truck like that.

Re: My '68 is headed to Mecum Kansas city

My mecum experience was very disappointing, they pushed my truck through and didn't give any effort to work the price. It appeared they pushed it through playing catch up on time. I talked to them about that and they offered a credit to consign it in March if I want to.

I think they definitely put more time/effort into getting top dollar out of certain vehicles. Sorry to hear about your experience. I'm glad you stuck to your guns and didn't sell it under your number.

Dana Mecum seems to be letting his kid run the show now, I don't think he has the negotiation experience his father learned doing it over the years. Just my observation.

x2. Mecum didn't give it the effort it deserves, or the right buyer was not in the room. Maybe both. Better luck next time, that is a fantastic truck.

Joe, sorry it didn't sell...that is one mint truck!
Personally, I think the big auctions heavily cater to the big ticket players and vehicles....leaving everyone else as a backburner attraction unfortunately.
Some of the vehicles rolled across the block hardly actually even stop before they are rolled off again.
Meanwhile...a six figure vehicle or personality can spend a couple of minutes up there.

All Good

I think all the big time auctions are like that. Barrett Jackson does the same thing on the upper end vehicles. Glad you held out Joe! You will get your price, it might take a little time. Very nice truck and NOT thrown together like a lot seem to be.
