Shipping those heavy parts across the country isnt cheap either.
I've cut a lot of frames apart... it's not a big deal. A sawzall with a good blade has always made pretty short work of them. Actually, thinking on it, I've done it A LOT... usually in junkyards in crappy conditions... and still not a big deal. The last frame I cut apart was at my own shop, and it took me longer to get my corded sawzall out and set up than it took to make the cuts.
I've also shipped and had "heavy" parts shipped to me. Spring hangers aren't cylinder heads or cast iron intakes. They'd probably even fit in a couple Flat Rate boxes.
But, like I said, I thank you for the reply, I'll continue my hunt.

Re: Parting 72 k20 chassis

Nice to see someone else in athens, but I gotta step in since I’ve converted a frame to 4wd myself. 1st randy has always been in like with pricing from everything I’ve seen. Keep in mind the 72 rear hangers are harder to come by being they give you more height and will cost you more than the earlier 4wd hangers, The front hangers and shackle mounts are so hard to come by in good shape you’ll probably have to pay $125-$150 just for the parts. Shipping is going to be high if he just cuts the frame because of the weight and would not fit in just 1 flat rate, or if he takes the time to remove each rivet then that’ll cost his time/your money. Use the advance search and see what things have sold for, my rear spring front hangers were a buddy favor and still cost me $50 for the pair, and a drive to conyers.

I'm not trying to be a dick, I simply said they're out of my budget. I'm looking for something to convert to modern shackles on my '62 K10. There's a complete Blazer frame in a neighboring state for $700, and it comes with a core support, front bumper, shroud, engine, automatic trans, T-case and axles. It's not a '72, but I don't need a specific year. I also hit a lot of junkyards with my buddies, and know what I'll pay for hangers and shackles there. And again, it's not a big deal to cut frames with a sawzall.
His prices may be in line. His prices may be a screaming deal. I don't know.
And I don't care. I was polite, I was respectful, and I really did appreciate him getting back to me with a price.
The price was simply out of my budget. I'm not sure why that's a problem, or why it required a snarky reply from him.

Randy, have you cut the rear up yet?? I am looking for some short cuts in the up turn area behind the front rear leaf spring mounts?

Re: Parting 72 k20 chassis

Hey randy, does it still have this bracket on the frame? It's the upper bracket, part of the np205 frame mount " torque mount "? I need the upper bracket piece, that's bolted inside the frame rail.

I have pictures of that part of the frame in my rear shackles for sale thread. I will move it up.
