Do you think that goes for fuel filters also? I run a canister type fuel filter on my 68 truck in the fuel line just before the carburetor. I try to change it regularly. However, when I rebuild the two barrel carburetor, I always find a layer of very fine sediment in the bottom of the float bowl.

I run a Purolator F20011 or a Purolator F21115 fuel filter. Does anyone know if NAPA makes an equivalent?

I have always run FRAM PF-13 oil filters, because they are low priced and very common at places like K-Mart. But now, K-Mart does not seem to stock that particular part No. of filter any more.
However, I think I am going to start running NAPA.

The best filter other than the Mobil 1 is the AC Delco, beleive it or not. Wix is right up there also, Fram and its clones are crap and may be good enough for a break in filter.

A/C delco does make one of the best filters...however, the one for 2 bucks and some chainge is not it. The 10-ish dollar one is the good one.
A/C delco actually made a mistake for a couple months and were selling the good ones at the cheap price.

Do bad the search doesn't work. I made a post a year otwo ago about which was made by who and I'm sure some of them have changed by now. One thing to remember, just because a certain manufacturer makes different brand name filters doesn't mean thery are the same. Sometimes it is the same filter with rebadged for a different brand. But sometimes they have entirely different manufacturing lines for the different brand sold by a single parent company. One example is the NAPA gold and silver. They are (were) made by two different manufacturers. They gold has gotten great test results and the silver doesn't. Bosch filters test good as well as Wix. Usually K&N is on top on the flow vs filtration. Mobile are good also. I like the NAPA gold because of the quality vs price vs availability. I guess now would be a good time to discuss the added benefits of synthetic oil..........

They were the hot setup in my day's , But I wonder how the new Hi- Tech toilet paper ,that is designed to disolve with 1 1/2 gallons of water instead of 5 works with them, some of the TP you buy today falls apart if you breath on it .

Longhorn Man...remember? The name is Franz. I have one on my 454. Also have one I need to get hooked back up on the TH400. It's hard to beat a filter that shows you what it's doing. Added bonus, it provides warning of any pending issues since you can see them coming. Down side, they're very hard to find and not made any more. Rumor has it some oil company bought them and closed the doors!! My grandpa was a dealer for them back in the day.

I like the Hastings filters. You can get them at your local Federated auto parts dealer. They are the company that bought out Big A. If I can't get the Hastings I use wix. Valvoline 10-30 or in my older wornout trucks rotella 15-40.

I have been using the by-pass filters for years. They are made about a mile from
my house. The company is Gulf Coast Filters and the owner is Charlie Sims. There
is a web site but I do not have the address handy. You could do a google search
on Gulf coast Filters.

The good thing is that it is a kit that you can move from vehicle to vehicle. I have
seen the demonstrations and am convinced that they do work.

I have been involved in several discussions and debates over the years concerning these filters. I do not know what Charlie is asking for the kits now. The last one
I got was $100. He did tell me, several years ago, that he would honor this price
for anyone I recommended. I do not know if this still holds true. If anyone is
interested, I will find out.

If there is enough interest, I will write about my experiences on this and post
it on the techinal board.

Currently using redline 5w30 and mobil 1 filter in my truck..........German Castrol formula SLX 0w30 and mobil 1 filter in my camry. And RP 10w30 and AC PF35F in the camaro.

Anyone that wants to learn more about oil, oil filters, or bypass filtration..........please feel free to visit:

www.bobistheoilguy.com

Gulf Coast and frantz bypass filters are very popular with members. I recently purchased an oilguard system that I am going to try..........but it isn't a TP filter. It uses a different filter media (looks like a roll of twine) that is good for longer use than TP.......that doesn't make it better though.

YEah Fram used to be good stuff, but then they were bought out by another company and all they really used was the name. Now they are JUNK!

AC/Delco all the way!
