How to get knobs off heater control panel for 1968 Chevy C10?
I purchased a new heater control panel for my 1968 Chevy C10 and it has black knobs. I would like to replace them with chrome knobs like my factory panel has.
How do you take those knobs off? I tried taking my old knobs off my factory panel just to get some practice and see how they are removed but they are not coming off even when using a set of pliers. |

I had to really hank em off hard using a pair of pliers and even then, I broke one of them. They are on there super tight.

Carefully move it knob back and forth, while you pul out.
BUT, you have to be VERY CAREFUL not to break the end of the levers off (done it ). Then put the new ones on with a dab of epoxy glue Good luck

I don't think the knobs are meant to be removed from the levers. If you look at repro levers, they have knobs (sorry if that sounds odd (don't say knob!)).
The levers are zinc and brittle (after 50 years). Actually they were breaking in the 70s but who's counting. |

I was going to say, you can buy replacement ones so they do come off.
After breaking one. I made a little hook tool to get behind them with a good straight yank. |

That’s the best move, and stays original. Definitely sucks breaking them off. And trust me, they break easy

I've slipped the knobs through the plastic bezel by carefully spreading the bezel.
