Front Disc Brake Question-are these the original rotors?
I'm the second owner of a 1971 C10. Both front rotors have this deep groove in the center (the brakes work fine, no noise, grabbing etc). I don't think the previous owner ever changed them (there is only 55 K miles on the truck). Does anyone know if the original rotors came with this groove in them?

I've got original rotors just like that. I'd say they are originals.

.
Indeed, I too have a set with the groove in the middle. No doubt those things are better than what you buy new today if they're still thick enough. -Kevin

Right, and iirc, that groove's bottom is the discard thickness.

Re: Front Disc Brake Question-are these the original rotors?
FWIW, if there was a scratch running around a rotor and the rest of it was smooth, I wouldn't recommend a new rotor to a customer. The minimal "loss of performance" would go away once the pad wore into the groove. These weren't racers, just people driving their cars for daily needs.
