GMC is not a Chevy
I have owned several 64-66 chevy trucks over the years and am intimately familiar with them. I recently bought a 64 GMC and was surprised how different it is from a Chevy. The outer body is the same except for the grill. I knew the dash was different, but didn't realize the instrument cluster is 100% different. Most websites show parts as fitting 64-66 GMC and Chevy. But the GMC gauges and knobs do not look anything like a chevy. Does anyone know of a company that has actual GMC parts? GMC Pauls doesn't sell gauges. LMC list the same gauge for Chevy and GMC. I may need a fuel gauge. Thanks.
Sorry for the rant, I am a GMC virgin. |

Yeah, the cluster is also a different shape so if you get aftermarket clusters they have a perimeter around them. Still prefer the GMC hood\grille but wish at least the dash would be same. I mean you can drill out the spot welds and swap it if it bugs you too much but that's a lot of work.
This company makes an insert to take aftermarket chevy gauges but it's $800 + you then have to buy the gauges themselves $$$ https://scottshotrods.com/60-66-gmc-gauge-bezel/ |

I don't have an answer yo your questions but you could always checkout the below forum that specializes in them.
https://6066gmcclub.com/ They only deal with the GMC trucks so would have a better idea of where to get the parts im sure. |

Re: GMC is not a Chevy
I wonder how hard it would be to fab up your own gauge plate? The GMC one looks less complicated than the Chevy one and I have mocked up a panel I built out of aluminum using the stock cluster to get the shape right both facing the driver and the firewall. I have never put my hands on a removed GMC gauge panel, but my Chevy one had two different depths - the front 1/2 facing the driver was larger than the rear half of the cluster that was smaller to fit in the bezel. To fix this I had to use two pieces of aluminum the thickness equal to 1/2 the thickness of the panel I wanted to make. This allowed me to cut out the back half the size it needed to be and the front half slightly larger. I then clamped the front and back together and drilled my holes before heavy duty aluminum glue to join the front and back halves together. You could drill the holes the sizes you need - be they the original size or whatever you need for your gauges. I damn sure would not pay someone hundreds of dollars for one that just looks like the Chevy plate crammed into a GMC...

Re: GMC is not a Chevy
Here's a thread on using the 60–61-gauge cluster plate with an overlay for gauges.

Re: GMC is not a Chevy
You will need to source NOS or used parts to fix and keep your GMC original , if thats what you're asking. NO ONE reproduces GMC specific parts, or should I say , very little. Gauges can be sent out and restored also. The knobs used on a GMC are the same as 1960-1963 Chevrolets. When you talk GMC its very important to state the year and also if it was built in the USA or a Canadian GMC. Canada GMCs are basically a Chevy with very few differences compared to the US version. You will find many differences once you dig in and there are many assembly plant differences as well. Pontiac Michigan built trucks are ALL GMC meaning the most differences from a Chevrolet.

Re: GMC is not a Chevy
Classic Dash makes a GMC insert for aftermarket gauges. Here is mine with a set of SW gauges. I got the panel second hand so the fake carbon fiber will be painted over.
