GMC is not a Chevy

I have owned several 64-66 chevy trucks over the years and am intimately familiar with them. I recently bought a 64 GMC and was surprised how different it is from a Chevy. The outer body is the same except for the grill. I knew the dash was different, but didn't realize the instrument cluster is 100% different. Most websites show parts as fitting 64-66 GMC and Chevy. But the GMC gauges and knobs do not look anything like a chevy. Does anyone know of a company that has actual GMC parts? GMC Pauls doesn't sell gauges. LMC list the same gauge for Chevy and GMC. I may need a fuel gauge. Thanks.

Yeah, the cluster is also a different shape so if you get aftermarket clusters they have a perimeter around them. Still prefer the GMC hood\grille but wish at least the dash would be same. I mean you can drill out the spot welds and swap it if it bugs you too much but that's a lot of work.

This company makes an insert to take aftermarket chevy gauges but it's $800 + you then have to buy the gauges themselves $$$

I've looked into this. My 63 gmc 1500 will be getting ram gauges to match the wiring harness. You would just need a thin aluminum plate for the gauge back panel, a 1.25" strip of 1/4 aluminum to wrap the perimeter and bolt in like stock and lastly a laser, mill, waterjet, cnc router etc to cut out to fit any gauges the customer would want. You would then tig those together from the back. Same with style you could do a black powder coat, a matte clear powder coat and a chrome powder coat.

You will need to source NOS or used parts to fix and keep your GMC original , if thats what you're asking. NO ONE reproduces GMC specific parts, or should I say , very little. Gauges can be sent out and restored also. The knobs used on a GMC are the same as 1960-1963 Chevrolets. When you talk GMC its very important to state the year and also if it was built in the USA or a Canadian GMC. Canada GMCs are basically a Chevy with very few differences compared to the US version. You will find many differences once you dig in and there are many assembly plant differences as well. Pontiac Michigan built trucks are ALL GMC meaning the most differences from a Chevrolet.

Classic Dash makes a GMC insert for aftermarket gauges. Here is mine with a set of SW gauges. I got the panel second hand so the fake carbon fiber will be painted over.
