Hey, look, numbers. Let's use some. LT235/75R15 (C) Yokohama Geolander -MAX LOAD 1985 lbs@50 psi. Times 4 tires = 7940 lbs total MAX LOAD. Minus the vehicle weight (Blazer @ 4400 lbs) = 3540 lbs MAX LOAD weight. NOT GONNA HAPPEN IN A BLAZER.
Oh, GM specs. HD 2500. 55 psi front - 80 psi rear. Let's look at this tire. MAX LOAD 2680@80 psi. Times 2 tires = 5360 lbs MAX LOAD Rear. For the front this get's tricky. This tire has 33.5 lbs load capicity per psi. So, Front is 1842.5 MAX LOAD @ 55 psi. Times 2 tires = 3685 lbs MAX LOAD Front. Total MAX LOAD = 9045 lbs. Minus the vehicle weight (HD2500 @ 5200lbs) = 3845 MAX LOAD weight. CAN HAPPEN IN A HD 2500.
But why not pump the front tires up to 80 psi on the HD2500. GM must want my tires to wear out or cause me to have a blow-out.
Let's leave the lesson for now. I know some out there will need some time to read this and tell me I'm wrong.
