The old Eaton is ready to go in

Got her all cleaned up and painted. I rebuilt the carrier with new bearings as the old ones were barrel shaped. Its a 5.14 geared detroit locker unit. The date stamp on the ring gear looks to be 1958. The housing itself is 1960 vintage from a 3/4 ton fleetside which is why theres no spring pads on it. The 1960 it came from had coils too but the trailing arms were spaced about 4 inches wider than my 68's so I had to cut the pads off. I'll bolt it in place with new spring pads and weld them on the tube after I set the pinion angle and center the axle. The Locker works perfectly. I cant wait to try it. 5.14 sounds like a steep gear but it shouldnt be too much with the 32 inch tires. I'll have to try the old tape a hundred to the dash trick.
