Front End Questions

I just picked up a 77 GMC ...Cab, Bed, and Frame. There is VERY LITTLE rust on the cab...the interior is good, including seat...and the windshield is good. I intend to use the cab on Bobby's truck, as well as anything else that might interchange. I have a co-worker that can use the bed. The truck was hit in the front end...frame is bent...as well as the crossmember.

The questions I have are:

Is there a way to check the spindles to see if they're ok? and if so...will they fit on Jason's 70 GMC. I'd like to put disc brakes on his truck. I might be spinnin my wheels here...but thought I'd ask.

I believe I've read here that the power steering gear will work on Jason's too. I'd have to buy the hoses and a pump/bracket mount. Is there a way to check out the gear sector to make sure it wasnt cracked in the wreck? Again, I might be spinning my wheels, but I only gave $150 for the truck with title, and am getting $75 for the bed.

As always....any advise or comments are greatly appreciated.
