Interior painting.... OOOPS!

Hey guys and gals I got a little annoyed with the crappy brown interior in my truck and I am slowly converting eveyrthing over to black and green on my truck everything turned out fairly well with black ( I havent added green anywhere yet) but when i took the door panel apart and painted the arm rest pad it was a week ago and will not dry. the rest of the paint looks great for a quick weekend job..... I was thinking of just soaking the arm rest in paint thinner.... would this damage the actual arm rest?
