Strange Shoe and Drum Wear
In May of 2015 I replaced all my breaks. From the shoes to the booster, even hard lines, everything was new except the drums, that I had turned.
I noticed in the last week or so that my brake pedal was moving farther before I stopped, so this morning I went and adjusted all the shoes. Its a 61, so no auto adjust, and drums front and rear. On 3 wheels, the shoes and everything just needed minor adjustments. But the drivers front was a different story. The rear shoe is almost all the way gone, and the drum has 2 HUGE grooves in it. The grooves are probably from Rivets in the shoes. Obviously I need to change the drum and shoes on this wheel, but what could cause this to happen to only 1 wheel? If it matters, the truck has always slightly pulled to that side when braking.... SLIGHTLY. Here are some pics: Front shoe, looks Ok, even though had abnormal wear: ![]() Rear Shoe is mostly worn out: ![]() Drum has grooves: ![]()
