Starter Problems...Help
OK, I have a 72 K1500 with a sbc 350, Turbo 350 and headers (truck came with the headers) that I bought recently. The issue was if you drove the vehicle on a hot day, shut it off, and then tried to restart...nothing. If it sat for 15 miuntes or so it would fire right back up.
Today I replaced the battery, both cables, the starter and solenoid (with new heat shield), and redid the wiring going to the starter. Now, when it gets hot after driving a while it will start but about 50% of the time you hit the ignition switch I get a loud clunk and the motor will not spin. If you hit the key a couple more times it will fire right up. Suggestions?
