fuel tank ?

what holds the filler neck in the tank? are they soddered?has any one used a 40 gal suburban tank? i just removed one from my 87 sub today and want to use it in my short box.it's gonna be tight but if i can rotate the filler neck and remove and replace the rear frame crossmember i think i can make it fit. anyone ever done this? to do it it looks like the tank will have to be rotated 90 degrees and the filler neck rotated in the tank.it will have to go back nearly to the back of the box, alittle past the end of the frame. it looks like no bed supports will have to be cut.it should hang about 7' below the frameand i plan to use a reciever hitch and a blazer skid plate for protection. what do you think?
