Fuel line hit's air cleaner - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

We put a stainless braided line from the pump to the carb.(edelbrock) & when I put the air cleaner on, the base hits the fuel line & you have to force the air cleaner down to get it on. Has anyone run into this? It is the Spectre line with the Magna clamp ends not the true an fittings.We did not have this problem with the rubber hose.Could the braided hose be THAT much thicker?
Also, it is hitting about about 1 1/2" out from the carb.
