How to detail underneath?

I'm interested in making my original/stock Blazer look nice, clean and stock underneath. It is nice underneath, but I want it to look as nice as the rest of it does. With that in mind, what is the best way to properly detail the under-carriage to resemble how it was when it left the factory?

Does anyone know what color the factory shocks were?

Also, was the factory gas tank metal color or black?

Any other tips would be great.
