87 Silverado Rear Main Seal??

Picked up an '87 Chevy from my mom-in-law who had it just sitting for a few years. I've started cleaning and got it running, but it needs some love. First thing, though, is a BAD oil leak coming from the hole in the flywheel cover.
I'm thinking it's the rear main seal and want to know if I should try this myself.
Are there any special tools required, or do I just pull the driveshaft & transmission, then access it from the back? Any guidance will help!
